Our Story

Our Lady, Queen of Peace, Parish Greystanes is part of the Parramatta Deanery in the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta, under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Vincent Long Van Nguyen OFM Conv.

Guided by our mission to grow as a community in the likeness of Christ, the parish is a place where all are welcome – parishioners, newcomers, and visitors alike. We follow Christ’s example in our worship, service, and relationships, nurturing a spirit of belonging and shared purpose. Rooted in the Gospel and nourished by the Eucharist, we strive to live out God’s mission of goodness in our community and beyond.

Greystanes, originally the land of the Cennemegal or Weymaly clan of the Darug people, has a rich history of care for creation that resonates deeply with our Catholic faith. Early Maltese settlers in the 1900s, together with Carmelite priests and dedicated parishioners, laid the foundations for our church and school on one of the area’s highest hills. From humble beginnings in a garage classroom, the parish grew into a thriving community, culminating in the opening of our church in 1975 – debt-free thanks to the generosity of many, including an anonymous benefactor. Originally intended to be named Our Lady of Victories, the parish chose instead the title we hold dear today: Our Lady, Queen of Peace.
